Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
1. Scope and Who We Are
ToonSocial (“ToonSocial,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the social platform available at toonsocial.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how and why we process it, when we disclose it, how long we retain it, and the choices available to you.
By using ToonSocial, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Your use of the platform is also governed by our Terms of Service.
2. Information We Collect
Account and profile data. We collect your username, email address, display name, avatar, and password when you create or maintain an account. Passwords are stored only in hashed form; we do not store your password as readable text.
User content and social activity. We process posts, comments, direct messages, images and other media, group memberships and group activity, reactions, likes, saves, and follow or follower relationships. Some of this information is visible to other users depending on the feature used and your settings. Direct messages are made available to their intended participants.
Usage, device, and log data. We automatically collect pages visited, features used, interaction timestamps, IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers. We use this information for platform operation, security, fraud and abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and analytics.
Founder purchase information. Card founder purchases are processed by Patreon (patreon.com); ToonSocial does not store card or other payment details. Crypto founder payments are made on-chain to a non-custodial address and are not handled by a third-party processor. Additional information appears in Section 7.
Toon AI interaction data. If you use Toon AI, we process your interactions with the assistant and may retain conversation memory associated with your account so the feature can maintain context. Additional information appears in Section 8.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect personal information:
- directly from you when you register, update your profile, create content, communicate, or contact us;
- automatically when you use ToonSocial, including through cookies, logs, and similar technologies; and
- from service providers and supported third-party platforms when necessary to provide subscriptions, security, analytics, or link-preview features.
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and support your account;
- provide posts, comments, messaging, groups, reactions, follows, saves, notifications, Toon AI, and other platform features;
- personalize your experience and organize or recommend relevant content;
- provide and manage premium access;
- monitor performance, understand feature usage, troubleshoot issues, and improve ToonSocial;
- protect users and the platform, enforce our Terms of Service, and detect or prevent fraud, spam, abuse, security incidents, and unlawful activity;
- communicate with you about your account, service updates, support requests, and important policy or security notices; and
- comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
5. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information on one or more of the following bases:
- Contract: to provide ToonSocial and the features you request under our Terms of Service;
- Legitimate interests: to operate, secure, improve, and understand the platform, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights;
- Consent: when we ask for consent, including for optional analytics where required; and
- Legal obligation: when processing is necessary to comply with applicable law or a binding legal request.
6. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
- Other users and the public: profile information, posts, comments, group activity, and other content are disclosed according to the feature used and your settings. Direct messages are disclosed to their intended participants.
- Service providers: vendors may process information on our behalf for hosting, storage, content delivery, security, analytics, and other platform operations.
- Payment provider: card founder-purchase information is processed by Patreon as described below; crypto payments are made on-chain and are non-custodial.
- Third-party platforms: supported public APIs may be contacted to retrieve preview information for links you share.
- Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, necessary to respond to lawful process, or appropriate to protect ToonSocial, our users, or others.
- Business changes: information may be disclosed as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.
7. Founder Purchases and Payments
ToonSocial offers one-time founder memberships that grant lifetime premium access; there is no recurring subscription at this time. Card payments are processed by Patreon (patreon.com); the provider, rather than ToonSocial, processes the payment transaction and related payment data, and ToonSocial does not store your card or payment details. You should review the provider’s terms and privacy policy before completing a purchase. Crypto payments are made directly on-chain to a non-custodial address and are not handled by a third-party payment processor.
8. Toon AI and Conversation Memory
ToonSocial includes an AI assistant called “Toon AI.” When you use Toon AI, your interactions are processed to generate responses. Toon AI may store interaction or conversation memory associated with your account to maintain relevant context across conversations. You may request deletion of this AI memory at any time by following the instructions on our Data Deletion page.
9. Cookies and Analytics
ToonSocial uses essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, security, and core platform operation. These technologies are necessary for the service to function.
Where enabled, we may also use optional analytics and performance services, including Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Cloudflare, to understand usage, diagnose problems, measure performance, and protect the platform. These providers may process usage, device, and network information under their own privacy policies. Where required, optional analytics are used based on consent. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, although blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of ToonSocial from working.
10. Third-Party Link Previews
When you share a supported link, ToonSocial may retrieve publicly available preview data from platforms such as YouTube, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook through their public APIs. The preview may include information made available by the third-party platform, such as a title, description, thumbnail, or source name. Those platforms process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.
11. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide ToonSocial, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, protect the platform, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and why it is processed.
When you delete your account, we remove or irreversibly anonymize the information that identifies you — including your username, display name, avatar, and profile — so your account can no longer be attributed to you, and we permanently delete sensitive data such as your stored Toon AI memory and any access credentials held under your account. Account deletion requests are generally processed within 30 days, as described on our Data Deletion page.
To meet our legal obligations — including responding to lawful requests from competent authorities and establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims — we retain certain records after your identity has been removed, such as the content of your messages and posts, the email address associated with your account, and connection logs such as IP addresses. These records are kept for up to one (1) year unless a longer period is required by law or to resolve an ongoing legal matter, after which they are deleted or further de-identified. Aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you may be retained, and residual copies may remain in backups until removed through ordinary backup rotation.
12. Data Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, password hashing, access controls, and security monitoring. No system or method of transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for notifying us if you suspect unauthorized access.
13. International Processing
ToonSocial and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Data protection laws may differ between countries. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.
14. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion of your account, content, personal information, or Toon AI memory;
- export or receive a portable copy of your information;
- object to or request restriction of certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing; and
- submit a complaint to an applicable data protection authority.
You can update certain account information in your settings. To request deletion, use the steps on our Data Deletion page. To exercise another privacy right, email [email protected] from the address associated with your account and describe your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding and will handle requests within the period required by applicable law.
15. Children’s Privacy
ToonSocial is not permitted for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted information may contact us at the address below.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to ToonSocial, our practices, or applicable law. We will post the revised Policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Where appropriate or legally required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
